Ouch.
I left @ the half.
The Eagles hung 60 on them in the 1st half.

Listening to the game I felt that they did let up some but not as much as typical. Could have something to do with the injury to Santos. I think you play the starters the entire first half and then let the 2nd's have a half but I understand, I think, what happened here. Basically some of the starters played about 3/4 of the 3rd quarter. Its hard to let up when your 3rd team punt returner returns a punt for 82 yards.

I made MB clarify herself when she texted me this score! I just couldn't believe it. Wow....

It was even uglier than the score indicated. I left with 4 minutes gone in the 3rd quarter. I must tell you I was ashamed of the way the AHS coaching staff kept the foot on the pedal in this one. At one point in the 1st half, he put the backup QB and RB in the game. They scored of course. Then the next series, he pulls the backups out and puts the starters BACK in. Classy move. We threw the ball many times after being up 40+ points. This one disgusted me.

Hubby and I watched the entire game and were happy that some kids got play time they wouldn't have ordinarily seen, but we were a bit surprised that the backup QB saw 4 series in this game, and that Chris Williams was kept in to a point that everyone around us felt sorry for Paschal. However, I thought the AHS fans showed a great deal of class clapping more loudly than usual for the Paschal band, as well as in the 2nd half for Paschal's 2nd 1st down of the game as well as their field goal.

Apparently it was a horrid cheap shot. From what I understand the play was well over after a TD and the Paschal player took Santos out from behind. As a result, Santos's high school career is probably over with a broken ankle (and what I heard from my source in the stands, a knee injury; there's talk of surgery).

To their credit, Paschal pulled the player to keep him from getting his neck broken by our O-line. As one OL I know texted me after the game, "Yeah, murder wouldn't look too good [on my college app]". If I'd been on the field after a shot like that, I would've felt like hanging 100+ on them. There is no excuse for a shot like that.

So the rest of the team pays for the trangressions of the one, right?I do not like that logic. This reminds me too much of a game involving Randy Allen's son Zach where Cooper hung 83 on an El Paso school in the playoffs. I despised it then and I despise it now. Low class sportsmanship IMHO.

Why did the Eagles only score 21 second half points?

Weak.

I talked to Warren this morning for a story that I'm working on about the game and he called it "bottom line it was a blatant cheap shot."

Word is that the Paschal coaches pulled the kid, apologized and the next play it happened again and it never stopped. Cheap shots throughout the remainder of the game. Paschal coaches could not control their kids and the refs lost control of the game.

Its a good thing that we only have one more away game with metromess refereeing.

Why would Coach Warren do such a thing? Not in character for him at all. I'm not against the scoring part, just the leaving the starters in part. Serves no purpose.

Warren and the Eagles did not run up the score. Paschal is just that bad. No effort to tackle anyone in the 4th quarter by Paschal. Paschal receivers fell down before getting hit. 2nd team played all of second half except for first series. I was there and stayed for the entire game. The clock ran the entire time during the 2nd half, without stopping. 2nd half lasted about 45 minutes. The Eagles played a near perfect game against a team who could do very little to stop anyone or gain any yards. It was a case of a team running their game plan to perfection against a team just hoping the game would end quickly. The injury had nothing to do with the score. Paschal just could not play up to the level that the Eagles were playing. Again.. Warren and the Eagles --DID NOT RUN UP THE SCORE -- Paschal was just that bad.

I will agree that Paschal was pathetic. No reason for C.Warren to tell S. Warren to be throwing the ball up 60 in the 3rd quarter. Now granted we probably would have scored running but it would certainly have looked better. It appears to some to be throwing salt in the wound.

After watching the replay on AISD TV, I have to say Coach Warren kept the score as low as he could have.

After the touchdown pass to Tevin Wiley that made it 39-0 in the second quarter, AHS threw three more passes the rest of the game. Two of those were by the backup QB for a total of 10 yards. The backup threw the only pass AHS tried in the second half. It went for 1 yard.

The 54-yard touchdown to Prentice Ashford (the starting QB's last attempt of the game) was caught behind the line of scrimmage. Ashford simply ran past two Paschal defenders and a third looked like he purposely got out of the way.

The guy from the paper sent me this info:
First quarter, AHS leading 14-0: Paschal muffed a kickoff, AHS recovered at the Paschal 22 and scored on the next play; on the first play after that kickoff, Tyler Hale intercepted a pass and returned it to the Paschal 3 and AHS scored two plays later; it went from 14-0 to 28-0 in 39 seconds

Second quarter, AHS leading 28-0: AHS kicked a field goal on the first play of the quarter; two plays after the kickoff, the Paschal QB was sacked for a safety; after turnovers on consecutive plays, AHS got the ball at the Paschal 35 and scored five plays later (Wiley's TD) despite getting three 10-yard penalties (one was wiped out by a Paschal penalty); AHS ran four more plays in the half and scored three touchdowns, two on running plays where the ball carrier was never touched and Ashford's TD catch

Third quarter: sophomore returns a punt 83 yards for a TD; starting offense gets its last series starting at the Paschal 15, two plays and touchdown

Fourth quarter: Sims goes untouched for another TD on the first play of the quarter; AHS gets one more series, running three plays to run out the clock at the end

According to the newspaper guy, AHS started TD drives at the Paschal 45, 40, 22, 3, 35, 42, 47 and 15. Those possessions alone accounted for 55 points.

From what I saw, Paschal just quit some time late first quarter/early second. AHS could hardly avoid scoring every time it got the ball.
