Another Finite, Feckless, and Fabulous Moment with the Dead White Men Poets Society.

It is not to far out of the realm to say that I seek to grab a chuckle or two from the cheapseats concerning this odd, yet utilitarian subject matter. Despite the discussion title, I have found that these poems have a message to the young boys that have given there time to achieve excellence.

Today's dead guy is the very deceased and I've been taking the dirt nap for over 108 years., Mr. John James Ingalls. Born December 29th, 1833 and died July 16th, 1900. Indeed he is a charter member of the Dead White Mens Poet Society.

Today's selection is called.

********** Opportunity ********* ( and no guys, this isn't the animated car salesman, Mr. Opportunity)

Master of human destinies am I.
Fame, love and fortune on my footsteps wait,
Cities and fields I walk; I penetrate
Deserts and seas remote, and passing by
Hovel and mart, and palace, soon or late
I knock unbidden, once at every gate!
If sleeping, wake -- if feasting, rise before
I turn away. It is the hour of fate,
And they who follow me reach every state
Mortals desire, and conquer every foe
Save death; but those who doubt or hesitate,
Condemned to failure, penury and woe,
Seek me in vain and uselessly implore --
I answer not, and I return no more

Perhaps JJI will run into Barry White and they'll collaberate on a new hit single.
