To everyone out here I will be missing in action for the next several months as we try to get ahead in college funding. I am now going to be working wn evening job at the dreaded Wally world on the westside of Odessa. We do not want to have the kiddos to have to take out any student loans, unless absolutely neccasary, and with 1 in College now as a Freshman at A&M and the other one either here at UTPB, Tech, WT A&M, Howard Payne or Tarleton State next year it is now time to make as much…

I recently asked myself why I care so much about high school football. The question is being answered, daily.
Things are in turmoil, in our nation. The economy is broken, the old tried and true methods of raising young ones are frowned upon or just singled out as plain old abuse. The world stage has lost respect for us and we continue to be lied to and, unfortunately, believe the lies. Things are truly going to hell in a hand-basket and I don't believe, for a moment, that I am being melodramati…

Okay, the therapist in Fort Worth warned us that Squirt's intelligence will make her strive for perfection. Brighter children want everything to be perfect, from the way they talk to their crafts and coloring and stuff. This is one reason Squirt gets frustrated and stutters is because her mouth won't say what she is thinking. They can also start showing OCD tendencies in extreme cases.
I think I have an extreme case. Oh joy.

We got back Sunday evening from college station and visiting our oldest at A&M. He is so amazed at the difference between High school and college. He was never a big bike rider and now is riding one pretty much everywhere he goes on campus. I am still amazed just how big the campus there is. The funniest thing thus far is the fact that we had told him during his senior year that he would change his major a couple of times from what he initially declared, and what do you know, Mom and Dad wer…

Well, Squirt does not have epilepsy! Whoo-HOO!!!!
At the urging of, and with the help of, her neurologist, we took Squirt to Cook Children's Hospital in Ft. Worth. We flew up there Monday morning (the 8th) for her appointment. Dr. Malik looked her over up and down, and said he didn't feel she had epilepsy. But since we had traveled all that way, he went ahead and put her in the hospital for a video-EEG. This office is so cool. The nurses were all very sweet, and Dr. Malik was very good with her…

We loaded up the old (MIL) and the young (the kid's best friend) and headed West Saturday morning to see the game UTEP/ El Paso has been looking forward to since they found out it was coming.
Yes, we could have had a little more fun had we headed out Friday and joined in on the MASSIVE scale tailgating - tailgating like I have never even heard of before. But Permian was playing at home and well, no further explanation is necessary.
Got to town and traffic around the school at noon was already…

Hi all,
It is was too early in the morning for me but we just got home from the hospital. My youngest son (4 yrs old) had a febral seizure at 5 this morning and let me tell you.....you don't ever want to be holding your child when they are not breathing, eyes rolled back and quivering. Scared the hell outta me! He had come in my room about 4 or so and he had a tummy ache, we had to go potty, then back to bed, then get a drink, then back to bed and he told me his legs were hot. He was kinda hot…

Well, Jarrett took a year off of football and is missing it. He told me yesterday that he is going back to football, basketball and track next year. WOOHOO! I was hoping he would change his mind over the summer and decide to play, but he already has his schedule planned out. OH well..
We will still make every game since he is a sax player for the mighty Roscoe Band.
I ride the bus on the out of town games and have fun. They put me on the boys bus and let me tell ya....that many boys talking and…

I'm tired, hot, sweating like a pig, and my voice is half gone.
Same as every Saturday during soccer season. I coach my daughter's U7 team. I have 8 this year, 3 returners and 5 newbies to the team. All 8 have played at some point in the past.
We can only work the girls 3 hours a week, and one of those hours is a game. So I only get 2 hours for practice. We don't use positions at this age, but I am seriously contemplating at least positioning the girls on the field, even if they don't use the…

A few rounds of golf, and we became friends. I'll miss you Nils.
The faculty was asked to wear Mojo for the funeral. I can't think of anything more appropriate. You owe me a round when I see you again!
The standing joke between us was always that stupid golf cart. Make sure you have one ready when I get there.
Anytime I called, you were there. You weren't just a co-worker, you were a friend. A class act all the way. I have re-typed this a dozen times, but it still doesn't seem to do you justi…

I just seem to have little tolerance for people who can't do their share. For example, I now sit at a light when it turns green because of people who feel they entitled to go even though the light changed. I can't tell you how many times I have had to hit the brake because of people thinking that a stop sign is merely a suggestion,
I hate Wally World, but unfortunately it is a economic necessity. Why the hell do they have 14,000 registers if they are only gonna have 4 working? The lady at the r…

Welp zero week is behind us ladies and gentlemen.
The board hasn't heated up at it's usual pace, but let's hope it gains some steam as we go along. I never thought I would say this, but I do miss the Abilene posters. :D
So where are we? Seems like most of us are ranging from a little concerned to suicidal about their teams. Yep, we are right on schedule.
OHS had no where to go but up and they did. Seems like the inside strife might be a thing of the past and these kids might actually be able…

with the build up on the two QB competition and all the talk of how the players were stoked and out to redeem coach quiz's coaching days at lee, he goes and lay another bad egg. this guy just didn't help his case at all. this was some of the worst play calling i have seen and coach quiz has had many...he didn't have any since of balance which is highly needed to compete in this league...the players were trying there best and the defense gave him so many opportunities but the coaches have no kill…

Week 0 brought some surprises to the table, both good and bad. What is a "Holy Crapper" you might ask? Well, a "Holy Crapper" is a performance that just makes you hollar, "HOLY CRAP! I didn't see that one coming!" So, this week's top three "Holy Crappers" are as follows:
3) Lubbock Coronado 49 El Paso Franklin 28
It isn't the fact that Lubbock Coronado won this matchup that makes me say "Holy Crap." It's how they looked
in doing it. Coronado isn't a team that "looks good in the uniform." Instea…
