Welp zero week is behind us ladies and gentlemen.

The board hasn't heated up at it's usual pace, but let's hope it gains some steam as we go along. I never thought I would say this, but I do miss the Abilene posters. :D

So where are we? Seems like most of us are ranging from a little concerned to suicidal about their teams. Yep, we are right on schedule.

OHS had no where to go but up and they did. Seems like the inside strife might be a thing of the past and these kids might actually be able to play as a team and get some W's. King was on fire on the sidelines, and I didn't see that last year. I think it might be a good sign. They have some kids who were born to run and a QB that was born to QB. And in a complete reversal of fortune - OHS will have most of these playmakers for another season.

Permian has some pretty high expectations they need to be meetin'. The scrimmage shook up the Nation - just like it did last year. So that might be a good sign. The Nation is still a little nervous after the first game. Not having seen it, I'm not gonna worry right now. We have an OLine that will see two DI scholly's - mark it down. I think we have a good QB and some solid offensive weapons. The Defense is the slowest out of the blocks it seems, and well they should be. There are only 2 or 3 returners. Six of the front seven they are replacing included two DI Ends and three others playing at various other levels of college ball. Have faith that they learned from them and will come around. The system is a good one and it should prevail.

Midland High was in shock after the first half of the DeSoto game, but sounds like they shook some of the cobwebs off late in the game. Keep the faith Dawq faithful. Sometimes a swift kick in the bum is what it takes to get the attention of teenage guys. :) Don't turn on Yenzer just yet.

Midland Lee had it a little easier in their warmup for district. They had some hiccups that were common to every other team I watched this weekend. Fumbles and interceptions were the norm this weekend. Still made the coaches and kids hoppin mad, so hoorah. The Lee Defense had a good day and they have some kids who like to hit. Ahhhh.... getting to see snot bubbles and spit fly, is there any better way to kick off a season? Touchdowns just aren't as fun to watch - pity ya gotta have em to win. The offense was on the move and had their way with Rockwall's defense often during the game. The red zone gave em a little mental trouble, but let's hope they read up on the "Art of Closing the Deal". ;) Of course, if Lee does really well this season we will have to say good bye to about half of the Lee posters and what fun would that be?

San Angelo had it the worst of the ole LSWC'ers. Opening weekend doesn't get much worse than a game like that. Only time it's worse is when that happens in the playoffs. So buck up Cat fans, the season is 10 games long and a lot of crazy things can happen. We have seen no win teams come in and have record setting scores against the favorites. I would venture to guess some of the old timers on here have seen it all. It ain't over until the last game, especially in this new district. I am getting the feeling that anything can happen.

As for the pickems contest, how saaaweeet is it that I beat Dagnew?!! I'm gonna chalk this week up to a good week because I know I'll be in his rear view mirror by the end of the season. And no one will be able to beat Coug78!! Argh!

All kidding aside, I wish every team the best of luck. I pray there are no season ending injuries to any of our boys. I pray for safe travel for every team and their fans when they set out for enemy territory each week. Even though we complain about our team and our district, I am grateful we are blessed with some of the best football in the country here in Texas. I am grateful we are blessed enough to have good men leading our sons, even if they aren't winning because all fanaticism aside, it is ALL ABOUT THE KIDS.

GO MOJO!
GO BIG RED!
GO REBELS!
GO DAWGS!
GO CATS!!!!

PS As soon as the Northern territories make an appearance, they will be part of the fam! :D

I agree, because Trinity's O Line is good also, we will also have trouble with Plano if that problem isn't solved.

If our D doesn't come around (and here I'm going off what people said who saw the game) then we won't match up real well with them.

I agree, I think the fact that he's cool when the heat is on & has a short memory helps. Trinity's pass rush didn't look sharp, their d was good but they just stuck with the basics & their secondary is the weakness, their offense was solid.

They sure did DAgnew. :)

McGhee seems to be on a very fast track! Watching him at our first ET game last year and then again in the PO ET game last year - was like night and day! He came a long way very fast.

I just got back from the Trinity game & its typical Trinity they are methodical & disciplined & quarterback Dennarius McGhee is miles ahead of last year he won that game for him, I was very impressed with him. But Permian has a great line & Curtis' offensive line was able to blow up Trinity's front 4 a lot so Porter will be licking his chops if that opportunity rises, if Permian can fix some of their problems they have a chance. You can also throw on Trinity, Curtis' receivers' were wide open all game but their quarterback couldn't hit the broad side of a barn(with Allen Trinity could be in trouble here) & Trinity didn't get a good pass rush in they hardly got any pressure, they do do their jobs well & adjust but they are not invinceable at all. By the way I believe OHS was my sleeper pick & they made me look good in week 0. ;)
